This is a great, informative book on the “Jewish background of the New Testament“. It provides substantial information on various topics, such as the land, their world-view formed by the Old Testament and Intertestamental period, traditions, the different philosophical sects, and beliefs on covenant and eschatology. Also, it has lots of footnotes for further exploration.
Every student of the New Testament Scriptures should grab this book as a resource to their studies, whether academic or personal. I found it helpful, and was a good addition to other books I have about the historical context around Jesus’ time. This is one book I’d recommend to every Christian who wants to come to a better understanding of the Christian text.
